FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JACKSON, Mississippi - The Supreme Court announced today it would hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which the Center for Reproductive Rights is challenging a ban on abortion at 15 weeks of pregnancy, on December 1, 2021.

Jarvis Dortch, executive director of ACLU of Mississippi, issued the following statement:

"If Mississippi politicians succeed at the Supreme Court, it will trigger an outright abortion ban in our state. Mississippians will be forced to stay pregnant and face having a child against their will, regardless of the circumstance. The ban provides no exception for cases of rape and incest. We all must demand that our leaders, at the federal, state, and local level, use every tool to protect our ability to make the decision about whether or not to continue a pregnancy."
