FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JACKSON, Miss - On Monday, the Mississippi House Universities and Colleges Committee passed Senate Bill 2113. The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi released the following statement:

"When politicians support legislation like Senate Bill 2113, they overstep their authority and get in the way of the teachers and their students.

There’s no telling how this legislation could open the door for future interference and classroom censorship.

The Mississippi Legislature should focus on raising teacher pay, instead of censoring how teachers teach. The Legislature should focus on increase funding for our schools, not turning them into political battlefields."
