HB 110: Mandatory 85% Sentencing Rule

This legislation removes a provision in Mississippi law that limited the "earned-time allowance" for inmates to a maximum of fifteen percent (15%) of their sentence, specifically for those sentenced after June 30, 1995. The earned-time allowance is a credit awarded to inmates for good behavior and performance, which can shorten their sentence. By eliminating this fifteen percent cap, eligible inmates sentenced after that date can now earn more time off their sentence through good conduct, in accordance with other existing rules and regulations related to earned-time programs.
