Responsibilities

This internship is ideally suited for a third-year law student and is preferably in-person. The work is largely research- and investigation-based, with tasks that may include drafting memoranda, attending and reporting back on City Council and CCID meetings, and other legal research projects. The position is part-time, requiring approximately 10–15 hours per week. Expected areas of focus include the Unhoused Project, Voting Rights Campaign, Police Accountability, and Special Education.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Excellent research skills, including conducting internet and legal database research.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and writing.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizing and time-management skills.
  • The initiative to see projects through to completion.
  • A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice.
  • Commitment to the mission of the ACLU of Mississippi.
