Bio
Kathryn Rehner Sullivan is a Hattiesburg, Mississippi native and an accomplished social worker, policy advocate, and nonprofit leader with more than ten years of experience advancing health equity across the state. Before joining the ACLU of Mississippi, she served as National Mission Advancement Advisor for Advocacy at the American Heart Association (AHA), where she led national and regional fundraising strategies in support of state and federal policy campaigns. In that role, she secured $7.8 million in advocacy funding, managed high-capacity donors, and developed six- and seven-figure proposals advancing public health and equity initiatives nationwide.
Previously she served as AHA State Government Relations Director where she coordinated statewide legislative campaigns and was a Policy Associate with the Mississippi Center for Justice where she focused on anti-hunger policy, public benefits, and criminal justice reform. Additionally, she brings extensive program leadership experience from directing multi-million-dollar federally funded health access and enrollment initiatives across South Mississippi.
Kathryn’s most important role is wife and mom. She and her husband have four amazing children who keep them very busy. Kathryn holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Alabama and a BS from the University of Southern Mississippi.
