Candace Coleman leads strategic communications and advocacy at ACLU of Mississippi in the organization's media relations, donor relations, digital communications, community outreach, and social media. She amplifies the mission of the ACLU and moves stakeholders to support the organization's efforts of defending and expanding civil rights and liberties in Mississippi. The Jackson native joined the staff in October 2020.
Before the ACLU of Mississippi, Candace spent six years executing fast-paced breaking news and impactful long-form storytelling as a news reporter and anchor at WJTV-12. Candace is a Mississippi Associated Press 2015 Best Spot News Story and 2018 Best General News Story award recipient, with several nominations.
Candace earned her Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Mississippi and her Master of Public Relations and Corporate Communication from Mississippi College. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and National Association of Black Journalists. Much of her volunteer efforts are with Circle of Color Book Club, where she promotes literacy and education throughout the Jackson Metro.
